Exhibition in the ruins

Okumiomote site in Northern mountain, Niigata.

It was first time I could see a ruin without single shadow of modern life.
An old mountain village Oku-Miomote had been existed in the deep valley of miomote river.
But a planned dam lake removed whole house and life in 1885.
When the excavation begun ,we found there was another vivid mountain life had been took place
in Jomon era along the valley.

Miomote．．．The name means three facing fronts
The place three rivers meet to be one.
The villagers already known there were a large stone circle
at the rivers meeting spot.

Good by hunters for the people who lived in this valley since AP 4000 to AD1885

A village hold by the mountains
When I visited the site, there still natural springs that had been grinding Jomon stone axe.
